HEREFORD’S mini unbeaten run came to an end in cruel fashion when Tommy Rowe struck three minutes into injury-time to settle this League One clash at Edgar Street in Stockport’s favour.

It was tough on Hereford who seemed to have done enough to secure a share of the spoils.

Hereford manager Graham Turner was able to name an unchanged team for the third successive match after gaining four points from the two previous matches with two clean sheets.

The two sides took some time to adjust to a strong wind blowing down the Edgar Street pitch.

Although this was in the visitors’ favour in the first period, it was Hereford who had the first shot with Steve Guinan’s effort flying over from 30 yards.

Stockport made use of the breeze to dominate possession and their first shot came on 12 minutes with Anthony Pilkington’s curling long-range drive drawing a fine diving save from Hereford keeper Darren Randolph.

From the resulting corner, Stephen Gleeson scuffed his 20-yard shot wide.

Clint Easton’s pass then almost unlocked the Stockport defence but the visiting rearguard got back to block Toumani Diagouraga’s run.

Hereford attacked at the start of the second period and goalkeeper Fraser Forster had to hurry his clearance under pressure from Sam Gwynne.

The hosts had to reorganise, however, when Richard Jackson had to leave the field with a groin injury and was replaced by Ben Smith.

It was Smith’s fellow substitute, Bradley Hudson-Odoi, who had the best chance to put the Bulls ahead a minute from time, rifling a shot a yard wide after Easton’s knock-down.

Three minutes into injury-time, Hereford’s defence came under pressure from a long throw by James Tunnicliffe and, in the scramble which ensued, after Randolph had pulled off an excellent save, Rowe turned the ball home.
