DANNY Scheppel netted a goal in each half as Evesham reached the first round proper of the FA Cup for the first time in the club's history.
The Blue Square Premier side were second best throughout as Paul West's men turned in a magnificent display to create a huge shock at St George's Lane.
Rushden's hopes weren't helped by the second half sending-off of Gareth Jelleyman but the home side were superior even against 11.
Simon Fitter who created the first goal after 18 minutes was inches away from making it 2-0 in the second period with a free-kick.
Michael Hayden made the second goal nine minutes from time when his excellent cross was headed into the corner of the net by hero Scheppel.
