WORCESTER Wolves will be looking to repeat last season’s shock home win against New-castle Eagles when the teams meet at the University of Worcester this evening (7pm).
That victory came in Janu-ary, when Wolves upset the Eagles with a 100-94 home win.
This came after Newcastle had already won 92-73 at home against Wolves and also re-corded a 94-82 home victory in February.
Worcester will again go into the game as the underdogs, having lost their first three BBL Championship games, while Eagles are joint top of the table with a perfect 4-0 record.
It will be the second time during the weekend that Newcastle coach Fab Flounoy has come up against a fellow player-coach, and the Eagles play-caller is looking forward to the challenge.
“It’s the weekend of the player-coaches, I guess,” said Flounoy. “Wolves made huge strides last year in their second season in the BBL and coach Skouson Harker has done a fantastic job to make his team competitive.
“Now he’s re-signed Anthony Paez we know it will be a battle. So we want to make sure there isn’t a repeat of last year.”
With Wolves also in action against the other joint leaders, Everton Tigers, Harker is excited about the challenge.
“We are looking forward to it,” he said.
“We have had a very difficult start to the season, but we are up for the challenge and we know this weekend will help us get better.
“Wolves have a lot of basketball left to play and we are confident we can get going in the right direction.”
