WORCESTER Men were completely outclassed as they lost 9-1 at Harborne in the BodyKraft Midlands Hockey League Premier Division.
Worcester started well and competed strongly but Harborne’s first goal opened the floodgates and they led 6-0 by half-time.
In the second-half, James Bower and James Cosh returned to the fold but Harborne’s first-half display had sealed the result.
They scored a further two before Jon Sprague converted a penalty corner late on.
There was still time for the impressive hosts to complete their nine-goal rampage.
Worcester Seconds went down 2-0 at Harborne in Midlands Division One.
They started the game in determined fashion but were soon on a defensive footing.
Excellent play by Andy Waters and Jeremy Drake kept the score even until the 30th minute when a sloppy opener was conceded.
Forwards Jack Burgess, Simon Smith and Steve Howard could not find the net before the home team conceded a second goal late on.
Rob Bonham scored in a 1-1 draw for the thirds at Bournville in the West Midlands Premier Division.
A dominant first-half display provided a goal through a superb Bonham strike. The second-half saw Bournville equalise with a well-taken goal.
Worcester could not capitalise on their possession and just survived conceding a winner from a last-minute penalty corner.
The fourths kept a third clean sheet in a row, seeing off Edgbaston Sixths 7-0 in the West Midlands Premier.
Matt Wilson (2), Josh Edge, Andy Hadley, Neil Clinton, Phil Jones and Joe Drewett scored the goals.
Worcester took 20 minutes to break the deadlock and then the goals came but it was not one-way traffic.
Joint men-of-the-match were Clinton and John Pudmore.
A depleted fifths team lost 3-0 to their Edgbaston counterparts.
They were unlucky not to go ahead in the first-half when an effort was controversially disallowed.
A lack of players meant no subs and an injury to playmaker Andy Taylor eventually told when Edgbaston scored three in the last 15 minutes.
In South West Division Two, Worcester Sixths beat Stratford Fourths 3-0 for a well-deserved victory.
They took the lead when Simon Griffiths hammered home a short corner. In the second-half, Worcester doubled their lead with a well-taken goal by Nigel Haddock.
Judd Doughty secured the victory, slotting home a short corner.
The sevenths knocked Olton Fifths off the top of the table with a 4-3 away victory.
Worcester played fine, flowing hockey to exploit space at the back and score two goals.
They scored a third in the second period from a short corner but dozed for a while and let Olton back into the game.
But Worcester completed the victory with Andy Brady (2), Josh Kusch and James Bullock on target.
Despite the efforts of Daniel Ferrier and Christian Holden, Worcester Badgers Pippins could not score in a 2-0 defeat to Solihull Blossomfield.
Pippins were 2-0 down at half-time and found the going hard with the opposition fielding two adults in defence.
Worcester Badgers Potters drew 2-2 with Olton and West Warwick in the Conference League.
A strong start was rewarded by Ben Cooke’s fine strike before a defensive error let Olton level.
Ben Darlow-Jones’s move to midfield gave Worcester added composure and they again went ahead through Lasse Bachem.
Henry Ingles, Cooke and Sam Grew impressed but Olton conjured a late equaliser.
