DROITWICH Women felt they could have got a result despite a 2-0 defeat to rivals Bromsgrove in Worcestershire Hockey League Division One.
Both teams had efforts disallowed but Bromsgrove took an early lead when the ball was slotted under the keeper.
Droitwich’s defence held strong for the rest of the first-half and they passed the ball well after the break, showing good teamwork.
Keeper Helen Dent made fine saves but was beaten for a second time after a short corner.
Droitwich’s player-of-the-match was Hannah Shaw and they play Old Sills on Saturday.
Droitwich Men’s Seconds continued their fine form with a 4-2 win over Bromsgrove in West Midlands Division One.
Lee Wakelam opened the scoring with a brilliant strike before the opposition equalised.
Droitwich regained the lead with a goal from Simon Baines but Bromsgrove fought hard to level again.
Two late efforts from Baines secured the win. Pete Sankey was man-of-the-match.
