WORCESTER Wanderers ran in 12 tries as they brushed aside Midlands Three West (North) outfit Stafford 74-0 in the second round of the EDF Junior Vase.

From the start the Wanderers were quickly into their stride as Ohlson claimed Sparrey’s kick.

Following a ruck the ball was moved left before finding Lee Watson to score in the corner. Price missed the conversion.

From the restart, the Wanderers attacked again with half-backs Watson and Sparrey varying the play expertly.

Stafford were forced to defend bravely but the Wanderers were playing with great pace and their ball retention was excellent.

The hosts ran in four more tries before the interval with Watson, Jenkinson, Jake Saddlington and Collins all going over with Price converting two of them to give the Wanderers a 29-0 lead at half-time.

After the break Stafford enjoyed their best spell of territorial advantage but the Wanderers defence was resolute with Saddington, Mars-land and Mike James prominent.

The hosts then broke out of defence and scored a try through Jenkinson with the movement starting just outside their own 22. Price converted.

Further tries from Mike and Simon James, Luke Denton, Jenkinson, Price, his first for the club, and Ohlson along with conversions from Sparrey and Mike James completed the rout.

This was an excellent performance from the young Wande-rers squad against higher ranked opposition.

On Saturday, the Wanderers travel to Dunlop (3pm) in Midlands Four West (South).
