WORCESTER City can move into the Blue Square South play-off zone with victory against Team Bath at St George’s Lane tonight (7.45).
Richard Dryden’s side are currently on an unbeaten run in the league which stretches back to the end of August and they made it three wins in a row with a 2-0 triumph at Havant and Waterlooville on Saturday.
A fourth straight success would propel City into the top five as they have a superior goal difference to Hayes and Yeading United, who occupy fifth place at the moment.
Team Bath sit second in the table after they were replaced by Chelmsford at the top of the standings following a 3-0 defeat at Hampton and Richmond at the weekend.
Dryden knows tonight’s match will be another tough examination of his team but he is relishing the challenge as City aim to add the West Country outfit to their list of scalps.
The City manager said: “It’s seven games unbeaten now and whatever league you’re in that’s something to be proud of. We are trying to pick up as many points as we can. It’s great to be in the top half, it’s great when you can turn on the teletext in the morning and you’re still up there.
“We were tested against AFC Wimbledon and at Havant so they are not getting any easier. It’s nice to beat the so-called bigger clubs in this league because we have played some of the lesser ones and they are now in the top half and some of the bigger ones are down the bottom.
“We have got six points out of six from AFC Wimbledon and Havant and there are six more to play for this week. I think we’re probably above a realistic figure for those two games and hopefully we can do well in the next two.”
Midfielder Dave Bampton remains a doubt for the Team Bath visit after missing Saturday’s victory through illness.
Shabir Khan, returning from an ankle injury at the weekend, was limping towards the end of the Westleigh Park encounter but is expected to start as Dryden aims to keep a settled side.
Marco Adaggio will be looking to hit the target for the fourth consecutive match.
