DESPITE his meteoric rise from Worcester’s mini-juniors into the Warriors first team, Charlie Fellows is keeping an open mind to the future.
The King’s School, Worcester, product insists he is determined to make it in the professional game, but is sensible enough to have a plan ‘B’ lined up.
The 20-year-old wing said: “I still have a place held open to do product design at Loughborough University, so I’ve got a lot of options.
“I’m also doing a part-time course at Worcester College of Technology to keep busy — I’m just enjoying it all at the moment.
“I don’t want to end up coming out of rugby at 24-years-old and have nothing to fall back on. I’d definitely say to younger players to keep your options open — go for it, but always have something to fall back on.”
Warriors are blessed with plenty of talent in Fellows’ favoured position, but he refuses to be overawed.
He added: “Although Rico Gear, Marcel Garvey and Miles Benjamin all play in my position, I always knew I’d get my chance.
“When all the other wingers are fit, I’ll still be fighting for my place. If you pay name-respect, you’ll never get in.”
