DROITWICH side Spa Match Blue dominated the first round of the Worcester and District United Anglers’ Association Winter League.
They not only thrashed the other 10 teams taking part but also secured first and third individual places.
Top angler was Spa’s Ken Roberson who, on peg 217 in the Blockhouse, used red maggot over worm to net four bream along with small perch and roach for a 7-14-8 total.
Runner-up from the adjacent match peg 219 was Chris Senter (N&C Match Group), who took 7-2-8 on worm.
Roberson’s son Mark secured third with 6-12 from peg 172, including a rare canal carp along with skimmers and perch on worm bait.
Returning just eight penalty points, Spa Blue were comfortable winners over N&C Match Group with 13. Equal third were Stuarts and Greenman with 20.

The next round is on October 26 when the tougher Perdiswell section will be included.
Senter’s domination of Brockamin matches continued when he easily won the latest open contest on the top pool with a staggering 111-10.
Drawn on permanent 33, Senter made good use of his end peg to net fish to double figures on sweetcorn bait at 16 metres.
Some way behind in second was Chris Bradney with 57-10 of smaller carp taken on the pellet waggler from peg nine.
Consistent Rich Brewer was third, weighing 47-8 from peg one to beat his Greenman team-mate Bob Patrick with 30-0.
Gary Brixton’s winning run continued when he topped the field on the Portobello contest at the Willow Pool at Broadheath Fisheries.
Making peg 14 come to life in the last hour, Brixton netted carp to 15 pounds on sweetcorn bait for a winning 48-8.
Pete Coldrick finished runner-up with 41-13 consisting of nine fish, all taken on corn from the margins.
Derek Stevens made good use of his corner peg for third with 32-2, beating Mick Weston’s catch of 29-13.
Barbourne AC travelled to the River Wye at Holme Lacey and found the river still carrying three feet of extra water.
Catches, however, were still respectable with Richie Parker coming out on top from peg three near the bottom of the Church stretch.
Offering maggot beneath a stick-float set-up saw Parker net 14-4 of dace.
Ashley Bosworth was second with 9-8, which included a 5lb pike caught on the feeder.
Andy Wheeler also used the feeder on his peg near the access for 7-8 of chub, while fourth was Terry Box with 7-6 of dace.
This weekend, the club are on the Rifleman’s section of the Droitwich canal.
