THE prolific Jon Sprague scored a hat-trick but Worcester Men lost 5-4 at home to Khalsa in the BodyKraft Midlands Premier Division.
After a controlled first 10 minutes, Worcester went two goals down following a succession of poor passes and control.
After a stern half-time talking-to from coach Peter Gibbins, the hosts upped the intensity but still lacked quality.
Despite excellent saves from keeper Sam Dawson Smith, Khalsa scored another three goals to seemingly kill off the game.
With nothing to lose, Worcester hit back and Sprague converted a penalty stroke following a rash challenge on Gibbins.

They started well, going ahead after 10 minutes only to concede after a lost midfield pass.
Four quick goals in the second period secured a good win with man-of-the-match Chris Kendall scoring twice.
Chris Miles and Evans also scored.
Tim Young powered a reverse-stick shot into the roof of the net to give Worcester Thirds a 1-0 win over Warwick.
Both sides played good hockey in the West Midlands Premier Division fixture but Worcester created more chances.
Worcester Fourths put the fifths to the sword with a 6-0 beating in the West Midlands Premier Division.
The final scoreline was a fair reflection of a one-sided game that enhanced the fourths’ title credentials.
Worcester Sixths slumped to a 2-1 defeat at Evesham in South West Division Two.
They missed a hatful of good chances with all the goals eventually arriving in the second-half.
Evesham went ahead and, although Paul Simons levelled, the Vale side bagged the winner five minutes from time.
James Bullock scored a hat-trick as the sevenths defeated Droitwich Fourths 7-0.
They controlled the game for long periods and quick passing led to the first three goals. Bullock, in his first game for the team, scored a brace of penalty corners.
Paul Crump (2), Andy Taylor and Andy Brady were also on target.
