PERSHORE came out comfortable 42-5 victors in Midlands Four West (South) against King’s Norton after a stuttering start.

The visitors opened the scoring after winning a penalty which allowed the number eight to break through two tackles to score.

Pershore rallied and inside-centre Ben Humphries made a powerful run to score under the posts.

Will Woodhouse was successful with the kick to edge Pershore into the lead.

Before half-time, Pershore widened the gap when Martin Hope scored off the back of the scrum.

The second-half belonged to Pershore whose aggressive defence stood firm and counter-attacked well.

Instrumental fly-half Woodhouse grabbed a try and converted before turning provider.

After collecting his own chip, he gave Matt Harwood an easy run in and then converted again.

In the final 10 minutes, the fitness of the home side again shone through.

Flanker Steve Holmes showed his turn of pace when he out-sprinted the winger and full-back to score.

Replacement winger Andy Jenkinson added the final try after a move started by Hope under his own posts.

Woodhouse’s conversion secured the victory for Pershore, who host Shrewsbury in the EDF Senior Vase second round on Saturday.
