MALVERN Town boss Joe Rawle is fearing a Chasetown backlash tonight (7.45pm) following their exit from the FA Cup.
The Staffordshire side were beaten 2-0 by the Langland Stadium side’s local rivals Evesham United at the weekend.
So the Malvern manager is hoping the team who reached the FA Cup third round proper last term don’t take it out on them.
“Evesham have done us no favours by beating Chasetown — they’ll probably be looking to take it out on us!” joked Rawle. “But, seriously, I wish Paul West and his team all the best in the cup.”
Malvern go into the British Gas Business Division One Midlands clash buoyed by a 1-1 draw on Saturday against Marlow, the side that crushed Rawle’s men 9-1 two weeks earlier.
But, while Town will have taken confidence from that point, Rawle is unsure what squad he will have available with striker Lee Mussell still out with a hamstring injury.
“After the game on Saturday everyone said they were available,” Rawle said.
“But a lot of them play football on a Sunday morning so I’m expecting a couple of players to be out.
“Unfortunately, there is nothing I can do to stop them playing on Sundays as we are unable to pay them more than we do and we can’t afford to put them on contract to stop it happening. It is something we have to live with.”
Meanwhile, Westfields face Cradley Town in the Midland Alliance tonight at allpay.park (7.45) after being without a game on Saturday.
Bromyard Town take on Ludlow Town in the West Midlands League Premier Division (7.45) on the back of their 3-2 defeat to Shawbury.
Pershore Town host Coventry Copsewood in the Midland Combination Premier Division (7.45).
