THE eagerly-anticipated clash between high-fliers MEC Chestnut and Warndon Athletic in Worcester Sunday League Division Two turned out to be a damp squib.
Warndon strolled to a comfortable 6-1 victory with Grant Gibbs cracking a hat-trick and the other goals coming from Kevin Insall, Ashley Banner and Duncan Edwards.
In the same division, second-placed AFC Severnside crashed 5-0 at home to St Johns with Jason Beck netting four times.
Premier Division leaders Arrow 2000 suffered a shock 3-1 defeat at the hands of Berwick Rangers. The new leaders are Perrywood with Anthony Burton grabbing the only goal at Powick.
Luke Willetts scored twice as Martley Spurs won 5-2 at Callow End.
Goals from Dan Wakelam and Dean Barmby gave Perowne Park Rangers a 2-0 victory over Droitwich Spa.
Luke Rainbow scored two for Westbury Celtic Reserves, who thrashed New AFC Barbourne in the Sunday Nursing Junior Cup.
Lakes Sports shared 10 goals with Droitwich RBL in Division One with Chris Read notching a treble for Lakes and Kirk Layton doing likewise for the RBL.
Whitehall continue to set the pace at the top of Division Four.
They hammered Old Cock 8-1 with a hat-trick from Stuart Hadlington and braces from Jamie Lee and Matt Baldwin.
Inter Town, previously unbeaten in the league, were thumped 7-3 by Perdiswell House. Matthias Isogen hit a hat-trick for Inter.
Tom Ainge and Sean Haynes bagged braces for Wychbold RBL Reserves in a thrilling 5-4 win against Arrow Reserves.
Neil Clinton also bagged a double as The Raven won 3-2 at Blue Star.
In Division Three, AFC Grosvenor’s Lee Sheridan netted twice in a 3-2 win over Old Vigornians.
A single strike from Mark Edwards secured three points for GDL Athletic against Anchor, while leaders Prinner Sports Reserves triumphed 3-1 at Hornets.
In the Saturday Division, there were hat-tricks for George Martin in VBL Sports’ 3-1 home win over FC Tything and Steve Coopey of Hallow WMC, who won 5-2 at University of Worcester.
