TOM Jenkins and Tom Saint will represent Perdiswell Park Golf Club in the national Daily Mail Foursomes competition.
The duo carded a nett score of 65 to win the club’s qualifying event.
Father-and-son pairing Steve and John Griffiths finished with a nett 70, one stroke better than Nathan Johnson and Jason Allies.
Also on nett 70 was another family team — Steve and Chris Williams — who were placed fourth on count-back.
The first October mid-week medal was won by Arthur Pike with a nett score of 66.
Pike just beat off the challenges of Mick Huggins and John Byrne, both on nett 70.
Huggins was awarded second spot on count-back, but Byrne had the satisfaction of recording the lowest gross score of the day with an 81.
Arthur Kupfer and Stan Wyres both shot nett 66s in the club’s October shield, but it was the former who won the competition on count-back.
Kupfer also won the Division One prize, again ahead of Wyres. Count-back was also required to separate third and fourth places with Paul Wiggett edging ahead of Steve Wiggin.
Club members also played for the annual Ladies’ Golf Union Medal. In a relatively high-scoring game, the medal was won by Lil Morris.
The senior team played their second match of the year against neighbouring club Ravenmeadow. Perdiswell Park won by four matches to two.
The club also held an 18-hole and a nine-hole stableford competition.
Ted Holmes scored 39 points to win the 18-hole competition by a point from Huggins. Brian Hodgetts was third place with 36 points.
The nine-hole contest was taken by J Nicholls with 20 points. Ray Day (19) was second ahead of Gordon Maycroft (18).
Round seven of the President’s Trophy went to seniors’ captain Geoff Edge, who carded a gross 84, nett 63. Runner-up was Bernard Wood (nett 67), while Norman Trimnell (69) was third. Cyril Misters recorded the lowest gross score of the day with an 81.
The sixth round of the summer league was won by junior member Jamie Smith, who also took the second division prize, with 41 points. Division One winner Phil Lane was second overall on count-back.
The junior section also triumphed in the sixth round of the ladies’ summer league with Bethany Bradbury scoring 30 points.
