Evesham Utd 2, Chasetown 0

SUBSTITUTE Danny Lennon was the hero as Evesham booked their place in round four qualifying of this year's FA Cup competition.

Lennon was brought on 13 minutes from time just as Chasetown were looking like making the home side pay for missing a first half penalty.

Mark Owen was the guilty party after ten minutes when his spot-kick was saved by Ryan Price but it was the striker who popped up two minutes from time to break the deadlock after Lennon's persistence and fine cross had been helped into Owen's path by Steve Lutz.

Two minutes into time added on, Lennon raced on to Danny Scheppel's pass and found the net off a post for his first goal of the season.

The woodwork had denied Owen after just four minutes when his volley from a cross from Mark Hands rebounded along the line and was hacked to safety by Harry Harris.

The latter was then adjudged to have fouled Lutz in the tenth minute but Prive plunged to his right to save.

Dean Perrow lobbed over the top with only Nathan Vaughan to beat at the other end where Gary Birch also shot wide from a good position.

Vaughan did ever so well to keep out a 30th minute free-kick from Mark Branch as tempers started to flare befroe the break.

Price superbly tipped Simon Fitter's 30-yarder over the top three minutes into the second half and then kept out a shot from Lutz.

Craig Holland found himself with only Vaughan to beat seconds later but the keeper smothered his shot.

Mark Hands headed Fitter's corner narrowly over 18 minutes from time before Vaughan was caught out by Mark Branch's corner but the crossbar came to United's rescue.

Lennon replaced Gary Hay in the 77th minute minute but it was the visitors who were looking the more likely and Vaughan saved well from Dean Perrow.

However, the deadlock was broken after 88 minutes when Owen made amends for his penalty miss and Lennon's brilliant late finish capped a great day for the Robins.
