WORCESTER City captain Craig Wilding has spoken of his disappointment at facing another ban just weeks after his last.
The striker missed the first two games of the season as the result of a three-game suspension carried over from last term.
However, having returned for the last five Blue Square South games, he now finds himself sitting out the next three matches following his red card in the 1-1 draw at Weston-super-Mare.
Wilding will miss today’s match against Fisher Athletic at St George’s Lane (3pm), Tuesday’s Setanta Shield first round trek to Bognor Regis and next Saturday’s visit of Braintree Town.
He said: “It’s disappointing having just got back playing up front again.
“I think I have played well in the last couple of games so it’s disappointing to be banned again.
“I am lucky it will be done in the week and the one game being the Setanta Shield. I would rather miss that than a league game.”
The former Redditch United player was utilised on the wing by manager Richard Dryden following his return to the side but has since been restored to his front-running role, scored in the 2-0 win at Bromley, and also had a header saved against Basingstoke.
He said: “We were disappointed to come away with a point at Basingstoke because we dominated the game. But four points out of six is not a bad return. We haven’t seen anything that we should be frightened of in this league.”
Meanwhile, Worcester City women’s skipper Vicky An-drews has called on fans to get behind the team when they host Hereford Pegasus in the FA Cup at St George’s Lane tomorrow (2pm).
The preliminary round match against the West Midlands Premier Division side is Paul Hennessey’s side’s first match of the season as they prepare for another camapign in Divi-sion One South.
Captain Andrews said: “I think the mixture of having the match at the Lane and playing Hereford has made it a good fixture. They are our biggest rivals but we beat them last year 3-2 in the county cup.
“We know we are getting a few friends and family to watch but it would be nice to get other supporters down there.
“It’s a big game for the girls so the more support the better. We will give everything we have got because we don’t want to lose at St George’s Lane, it’s not very often we get to play there.”
Admission is £2.
