DROITWICH driver Richard Hay enjoyed further Evo Caterham Eurocup success with team-mate Clive Richards at Donington Park.

West Sussex-based Richards, who Hay claimed Eurocup championship victory with last season, got away to a good start when he claimed second place, despite gearbox problems, in his individual race.

Race two, delayed by fog, provided a tantalising battle for victory between Hay and Kurt Hoffmann with less than a second separating them.

Hoffman led for a lap but Hay broke Nick Payne’s day-old lap record and put 1.9 seconds between their cars by the end. It was Hay’s second race win of the season.

He then led Lee Cunningham in race three with Hoffmann in third spot.

Once Hoffman handed over to Payne, they closed down the Hay/Richards car and took the lead with six laps to go. Payne crossed the line nearly 10 seconds ahead of Richards.

With only three races left, scheduled for the French circuit of Magny-Cours next month, Hoffmann and Payne lead the standings by a single point from Hay and Richards.
