WORCESTER City have signed Gresley goalkeeper David Clarke as cover for Danny McDonnell.
McDonnell suffered a badly gashed leg towards the end of the Basingstoke draw and is expected to be out for a fortnight.
Clarke, who has signed non-contract forms, was an ever-present at the Unibond Division One South side last season and won the supporters’ player-of-the-year award.
However, the 23-year-old was dropped after a disappointing start to the current campaign and Richard Dryden, who worked with the player at Tamworth, has swooped after spending the last 36 hours searching for a replacement.
The City manager said: “If you get a goalkeeper on loan for a month, clubs expect them to play week in, week out. But if Danny is out for just two weeks, it would have to be a good goalkeeper to keep him out.”
