BROMSGROVE Rovers are hoping to have a new manager in place after the weekend.
The Victoria Ground club are searching for a boss following Duane Darby’s departure last week just four games into the British Gas Business Division One Midlands season.
Caretaker boss Daryl Burgess, who oversaw the shock weekend FA Cup 2-1 defeat at West Midlands League side Ellesmere Rangers, remains in charge for Saturday’s trip to Barton Rovers.
But Rovers chairman Tom Herbert wants to appoint as soon as possible after that fixture. He said: “We have had about 17 applications and we are starting interviewing.”
One name not in the frame, however, is Evesham United manager Paul West, who said he had declined an approach from Rovers’ director of football Steve Daniels.
West was asked to meet officials last Thursday and again on Sunday but said: “I am flattered by the interest but the bottom line is that I am happy where I am.”
