PERSHORE continued their excellent end-of-season form with a six-wicket win over high-flying Bromyard in Crusader Worcestershire League Division One.
Bromyard decided to bat after winning the toss and openers Ashley Bullock and Oliver Bailey gave the innings a flying start with 60 on the board from just 11 overs.
Pershore then gained the important scalp of Bailey (39) who was quickly followed by Bullock.
Barry Rhodes (66) and Zahid Saeed progressed the score to 130 but Pershore then gained a flurry of wickets, leaving Bromyard on 178-8.
In reply, Pershore made a steady start but lost three wickets in reaching 65.
Jay Waters (46) was joined by Lee Wilks and the pair added 74, putting the home side on course for victory.
After Waters was dismissed, Wilks opened his shoulders and his undefeated innings of 72 saw the last 50 come from 34 balls.
Pershore, who face Eastnor in their final game on Saturday, were home with 16 overs to spare and gained a maximum 24 points.
n Old Elizabethans’ late push up the Birmingham League Division Two table continued with a four-wicket win against Aston Manor.
Skipper Sean Cairney won the toss and asked the home side to bat first on a green pitch that looked certain to assist the bowlers.
Stuart Lockwood (4-46) struck first then Prichard and Javed compiled a breezy 37 before the former became the first of Ollie Griffiths’ four victims.
However, the next pairing added 35 before the Aston captain Evans was bowled by Lockwood.
The wicket marked the decline of Aston as they subsided from 76-4 to 100 all out in a total of just 24 overs.
A combination of tight bowling by Griffiths and Stuart Phillips (2-7), supported by Lockwood, found no answers from the home batsmen.
Although he conceded 14 off one over, Griffiths took the final wicket to finish with an impressive 4-21 off 8.4 overs with five maidens.
However, the reply got off to a poor start with both openers back in the pavilion with the total on just two.
David Phillips (28) and Chris Pearman (26) set about rebuilding as they added 42 before the former was trapped lbw by Hussain.
James Bull (27 not out) crafted a valuable 40 with Pearman who was bowled by Jefferies.
The visitors were still 17 runs off their target with five wickets remaining.
Sean Cairney tried to push towards victory but fell with the total on 91.
In the end, youngsters Bull and Liam Booth (7no) took OEs past the winning total in exactly 32 overs and claimed another welcome 20 points.
The seconds’ battle against relegation from Division One continued with a defeat at the hands of a well-drilled Kenilworth Wardens side.
Having won the toss, skipper Steve Burgoyne inserted the opposition on a decent surface.
Kenilworth started briskly and went on to score 221-8, including 35 extras, with Andy Stephens, Matthew Sprague and Martin Johnson (4-57) taking the wickets.
The hosts lost Burgoyne early on with Rich Gardiner and Mike Payne (14) also departing too quickly.
Sprague (36) and Graeme Norton (20) put on 53 runs for the fifth wicket.
OEs were eventually dismissed for 120 with the injured Stephens adding a plucky 20.
