WORCESTER’S Brian Huxley enjoyed his second win of the year at the Open Sport Nationals at Stratford’s Shakespeare County Drag Raceway.
The St John’s 66-year-old races in the Santa Pod finals at the end of September and hopes to have enough points to win the title.
In Stratford, Huxley won in a 1966 Ford Mustand Coupe (Cando), beating more than 18 competitors.
He had a problem with the car having a hesitation off the start line which in drag racing can be crucial.
Huxley, who has been competing for 28 years and is currently in a team with son Lee and Neil Bell, could not find the problem in time but it did not hold him up.
Bradford Building Supplies, Spiders Disco and CARS Valeting Services at Bridge Garage are all backing them.
