THINGS are not getting any easier for Evesham United as they try to mix it in the British Gas Business Premier Division.
On Saturday they face Farnborough at St George’s Lane (3pm), a club rising from the ashes of bankruptcy with great affect.
All this comes on the back of games against Chippenham Town, Gloucester City and Halesowen Town — all sides looking to be in the shake-up come May.
But that is just how Robins’ boss Paul West likes it.
“I’m sounding like a broken record at the moment,” he said. “But that is the reality. We are playing good sides week in, week out.
“There is no let-up in this league and we are up against another much-fancied side.”
Farnborough, who for many years held their own at the top of the non-league pyramid in the Conference, won Division One South last term in their first season back from extinction.
The Hampshire side have made a flying start in the Premier Division as they aim to haul themselves back to where they fell from.
“They have been flexing their muscles in the transfer market during the summer and have been signing players who have experience at this level and above,” said West.
“On Monday against Halesowen, they had a weekly budget of £6,500 compared to our £1,500.”
West welcomes back keeper Nathan Vaughan after he sat out Bank Holiday Monday’s 3-1 defeat to Halesowen Town, due to an agreement as part of the deal that saw him return from the Yeltz.
However, top-scorer Danny Scheppel is out for another week with a hamstring injury picked up in the 2-2 draw with Gloucester last Saturday.
