KIDDERMINSTER Harriers twice fought back from a goal behind to secure an impressive Blue Square Premier 2-2 draw against Burton Albion at the Pirelli Stadium.
Greg Pearson gave Nigel Clough’s men the lead in the 31st minute, before Matthew Barnes-Homer levelled for the Aggborough side.
However, Burton immediately restored their lead when defender John Brayford smashed the ball home.
Resilient Harriers equalised again, though, when defender Luke Jones headed in Martin Brittain’s 80th-minute corner.
Burton began brightly and the influential Jody Banim sent Pearson powering down the right wing, but he was thwarted by a crunching Mark Creighton tackle.
Russ Penn skipped past John McGrath on the left and sent in a looping cross, but striker Justin Richards was just put off by Brayford.
Barnes-Homer wasted a good chance for the visitors in the 28th minute when he headed a Brittain corner wide.
Penn’s excellent pass then released Brittain and his cross caused chaos in Burton’s box but Brayford bravely beat Richards to the ball.
The home team opened the scoring when former Harriers man Andy Corbett found Banim, who squared for Pearson to slot the ball home.
Kidderminster stopper Adam Bartlett kept his side in the match, tipping over Banim’s 40th-minute pile-driver.
After the break, Jones could easily have scored an own-goal when he got his head to Banim’s dangerous cross.
The away side started the second-half brightly and McGrath fouled Brittain for a free-kick 30-yards out.
The former Newcastle midfielder’s free-kick clipped the wall and went to safety. Penn then fired a shot into the back of the net, but the referee had already blown for a foul.
Harriers deservedly equalised in the 76th minute. Brittain sent in a low cross that substitute Darryl Knights hooked to Richards. The striker squared the ball to Barnes-Homer, who slotted into the net.
However, Burton hit back immediately when Shaun Harrad fed Pearson, who drew Bartlett into a diving save, but Brayford was on hand to slam the rebound into the back of the net.
Harriers weren’t to be thwarted though and centre-half Jones bagged an 80th-minute leveller from Brittain’s corner. Although Burton substitute Darren Stride hooked the ball clear, the linesman raised his flag to say the ball crossed the line.
