EVESHAM’S Simon Andrews admitted he will be heading into the unknown when he takes his injury-ridden body to Cadwell Park for round nine of the British Superbikes.

The 25-year-old is still nursing a broken hand and torn knee ligaments sustained during testing last month just days before his World Superbike debut at Brands Hatch.

Andrews rode through the pain barrier at Knockhill two weeks ago to finish eighth and sixth but insisted the Lincolnshire circuit may prove a step too far.

“Cadwell is much more physically demanding track and there are certain parts that will put a new strain on my injuries,” he added. “So I have absolutely no idea how my hand and knee will hold up.

“I rode through it at Knockhill and I’m confident I can do it ag-ain at Cadwell. Knockhill was great and despite the injuries I was able to get fantastic results.

“Qualifying will be difficult because I won’t have any time to ice my injuries but I have to deal with that and adapt to it.

“I know the adrenaline will be pumping when it gets to the race and hopefully I’ll be able to get through it.”
