BROMSGROVE Golf Club are in with a chance of promotion after moving to the top of the Birmingham Alliance League Division Two table.
Meanwhile, Bromsgrove’s 17/24 handicap team remain on course to retain the Birmingham Division One title after defeating fellow championship rivals Harborne in a high-scoring match.
In wet and windy conditions on their opponents’ course, some fine individual displays saw Bromsgrove claim an aggregate 296-287 victory.
Scores: Curt Price (26pts); Cameron Long (50); Rob Millward (37); Bob Hodges (28); Rob Greening (35); Blane Stevenson (39); Brian Innet (37); Sam Innet (44).
Elsewhere, the annual Foursomes Cup took place with 20 pairs participating in the competition.
Fortunately, the heavy overnight rain subsided and the event got under way without a hitch although everywhere on the course was very wet.
Most players found the format challenging as only one ball is played with alternate shots.
Bearing in mind the conditions, the winning score of 66 by Brad and Glen Styring was excellent.
Ben Bevins and Peter Barnes finished second with a creditable score of 68.
The juniors continued their impressive season with a fine 4-0 win over Olton Golf Club and a hard-fought 2-2 draw against Kings Norton GC.
Oliver Dilloway and Blane Stevenson were also successful in the inaugural junior captain/pro challenge with 44 points.
