THREE trophies were up for grabs in The Worcestershire Golf Club’s August Medal.
In Division One, for handicaps of 12 or below, Phil Park (12) won The James Cup with a score of 79-12-67.
Park finished just one stroke ahead of Alan Boyd (11), but there was a consolation for the latter as he scooped the John Scott Cup, which is limited to those over the age of 55. Bruce Duncan (8) was third with 78-8-70.
The Division Two title was claimed by Roger Blackwell (82-14-68). He was closely followed by Andrew Perkins (83-14-69) and Mike Hill (86-17-69).
Division Three players found Mehedi Gerami in good form again and he reduced his handicap with a score of 93-25-68. One stroke back were Paul Sharratt (87-18-69) and Trevor Simmons (92-23 69).
Elsewhere in the division, John Green’s score of 93-22-71 was good enough to win the Ron Richards Trophy for competitors over the age of 70.
A veterans’ stableford competition for members over 60 was won by Paul Hothersall (23hcp) with 39 points and a better back nine holes than Ken Willett (18), who also recorded 39 points.
Brian Longley (20), who has not featured strongly since winning the Rabbit’s Cup a year or two ago, finished in third place with a final score of 38 points.
