WORCESTERSHIRE Royals will be without Matt Mason for their NatWest Pro40 clash with Durham Dynamos at New Road tomorrow (1.45pm).
The 34-year-old injured a pec-toral muscle in his chest on the opening day of their LVCC Division Two match at Essex and, while the Australian-born seamer did bat in that game, he was unable to take to the field.
Director of cricket Steve Rhodes is already without Simon Jones for the remainder of the season due to cartilage damage in his right knee, so with Mason out he has recalled Chris Whelan. But the 21-year-old seam bowler is unlikely to play against the Dynamos with Rhodes preferring a three-man seam attack as they look to defend their crown.
Durham will be without pace ace Steve Harmison who is on England one-day duty.
The Dynamos come into the New Road match having beaten leaders Nottinghamshire Outlaws by six runs on Tuesday.
Royals (from): Solanki (capt), Davies (wkt), Moore, Smith, Hick, Mitchell, Moeen, Batty, Kabir, Andrew, Arif, Whelan.
