BROMYARD Town continued on their long road to Wembley after coming from two goals behind to beat Ledbury Town 3-2 in the extra preliminary round of the FA Cup.

A brace from striker Andy Malcolm and a glancing second-half header from captain Rob Woodward were enough to see off the home side.

Ledbury had earlier exploded out of the blocks and stormed to a two-goal lead after a devastating first seven minutes.

Jamie Welch headed in from four yards on three minutes following a right-wing cross from Joel Skyers.

Duncan Preedy scored the goal of the game, doubling his side’s lead with a fine lob from the edge of the 18-yard box. But the visitors re-grouped to half Ledbury’s lead on 21 minutes after Malcolm took advantage of a defensive lapse. He could have netted the equaliser nine minutes later but cleared the bar with a bad miss from six yards.

Bromyard equalised on 55 minutes when Luke Towler was pegged back in the box by defender Mike Cole for a penalty. The spot-kick was duly dispatched by Malcolm.

A superb save from Ledbury’s Adie Hodges kept Towler at bay five minutes later as Wayne Oliver’s side piled on the pressure.

They would not be denied just 10 minutes later as Woodward struck the winner with a glancing near-post header from a corner whipped in by winger Matthew Graham.

Bromyard are at home to Barwell in the preliminary qualifying round on Saturday, August 30.
