WORCESTERSHIRE director of cricket Steve Rhodes says that they are likely to send Simon Jones for a scan after withdrawing him from the squad to face Essex tomorrow due to a knee injury.
The Welshman limped out of the last LVCC Division Two match against Derbyshire with a hamstring problem which also forced him to withdraw from the England Lions squad last week.
But the County have become concerned with some swelling around the 29-year-old’s right knee.
“Giving his history we are going to take every precaution with Simon and that probably means sending him for a scan,” Rhodes said.
“Simon has had major knee reconstruction surgery in the past so anything to do with his knee is a concern.”
Jones will be replaced in the squad by fit-again Kabir Ali after he missed the Derbyshire game with a back injury but returned to fitness and played for the England Lions against South Africa.
