Another Kidderminster Vi-ctoria match in the Birming-ham League Premier Division fell victim to the weather as bottom of the table Shifnal recovered from a dreadful start to reach a respectable score before the game was called off.

Kidderminster won the toss and decided to field.

Under the captaincy of Mark Mansell due to Jonathan Wright’s absence, they had a dream start.

By the 11th over Shifnal were in trouble at 18-5. Mario Saliwa had taken 3-13 and Arfan Khan 2-4.

Jono Whitney was clean bowled by Khan for six, George Collins was bowled by Saliwa for one, and James Ralph fell to a catch by keeper Josh Knappett off Khan having scored only four.

Asif Sultan was bowled by Saliwa for one who then followed up with a caught and bowled to dismiss Bruce Thomason for a duck.

Only Brian Jones was offering stout resistance but, having scored 18, he was out leg before to Mark Mansell.

Anthony Parker had taken the score up in a steady manner but Ed Home was caught by Andy Kimberlin off Saliwa for one and Guy Bulpitt was leg before to the same bowler for 3.

Parker was eventually out for 62 when he was bowled by Mansell.

Gary Putland had also shown that he could score runs and ended on 30 not out.

When the break for tea came, so did the rain. A large crowd, who had gathered for the annual vice president’s day, saw the end of what could have been a good contest.

Another good bowling display by Saliwa, Khan and Mansell. Saliwa finished with 5-51, while Mansell took 2-32 and Khan only conceded 21 runs in taking his two wickets.
