MATTHEW Vigurs shot an excellent round to be crowned as the nett winner of the Worcestershire Under 15s County Championship title.
Youngster Vigurs, who is a member of the Gaudet Luce Golf Club-based Russell Adams Golf Academy, carded a six-under-par nett 66 to seal victory at Blakedown Golf and Country Club.
Going into the tournament at the par 72 course, Vigurs was playing off a handicap of 17.1, but his gross 83 round has seen him cut to 15.6.
Coach Adams said: “Matt is one of the most gifted players in the academy.
“He has a wonderful temperament with fantasic natural ability.
“He has been working on his game with us now for two years and we feel he has all the aspects to be a great player.”
Meanwhile, Vigurs’ fellow Russell Adams Golf Academy pupil, Tom Waldron, returned a fine score of 50 points to claim the Gaudet Luce captain’s day competition.
George Palmer, another academy member, was celebrating after claiming his first hole-in-one on the Droitwich-based club’s par three Hadzor Course. Palmer achieved the ace using his pitching wedge on the second hole.
Finally, Michael Bott won the academy’s flag competition.
The junior star was successful after managing to take his flag all the way to the ninth hole of the Hadzor Course.
