HEREFORD United manager Grah-am Turner is refusing to get downbeat after his side’s start to the season.

The Bulls have lost both their games to date 2-1, against Leyton Orient in the League One opener last Saturday and at Crystal Palace in the Carling Cup in mid-week.

The Edgar Street chief was less than impressed with his side’s efforts at Orient, while keeper Darren Randolph was at fault for both goals in the Selhurst Park exit.

However, it is early days and Turner, whose side host Yeovil Town in League One today, is confident things will improve.

He said: “I am optimistic there is plenty of room for improvement in the team and that, in turn, does not deaden my optimism for the whole of the campaign.

“I know that the vast majority of the players in our team can put in improved performances.”

Turner is also looking to bolster the numbers at the club before the transfer window slams shut at the end of the month. He has made no secret of his desire to add new faces to the ranks, either as permanents signings or loans.

The manager added: “I have scope to strengthen the squad before the transfer window closes for permanent transfers or long-term loans. Then, from September 7, we can always take emergency loans as and when we need to.”

Meanwhile, former Hereford full-back Trent McClenahan was part of the Australia side knocked out of the Olympics by the Ivory Coast. An 80th-minute goal from the Chelsea striker Salomon Kalou was enough to end the dream.
