HEREFORD United are hoping to follow in the footsteps of tomorrow’s opponents Yeovil Town and establish themselves in League One.
The two clubs have locked horns on numerous occasions down the years in a rivalry that stretches back to their days in the Conference.
Yeovil rose to the third tier of English football in 2005, reaching the play-offs in 2007 but finished 18th last season.
The Bulls back at this level for the first time in 30 years have ambitions of prolonging their stay and eventually making strides for the Championship.
Tomorrow’s match will be the first between the sides at their current level but one which is eagerly-anticipated by both sets of fans.
Turner said: “It’s a friendly rivalry, they have done extremely well to establish themselves as a League One club and that is our aim.
“What we want to do is establish ourselves at this level, we know it will be hard work but it can be done.”
Hereford began with a 2-1 defeat at Leyton Orient last Saturday, utilising a 4-5-1 formation, but Turner thought there were signs of improvement in the same reverse at Crystal Palace in the Carling Cup first round on Tuesday.
“They have been two different games,” Turner said. “Having taken the lead at Leyton Orient we should have done better.
“At Crystal Palace, I thought we were much better against a side that a few months ago were vying for a place in the Premier League through the play-offs.
“After the Orient game we worked on a few things and the lads responded well.”
The Bulls beat Yeovil 4-1 at Edgar Street in the Carling Cup last season but lost 4-2 on penalites on home soil in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy.
Russell Slade’s side began the current campaign with a 1-1 draw against Walsall and followed that with a 1-0 triumph at Championship outfit Charlton Athletic in the Carling Cup.
Hereford have a clean bill of health for the match meaning Turner could opt to field the same side for the third successive match, employing Moses Ashikodi, on loan from Wat-ford, as the lone striker in a 4-5-1 system.
Captain Ben Smith is expected to line-up against the club he left seven years ago.
Goalkeeper Craig Samson might be considered for a start following Darren Randolph’s error-strewn performance against Palace.
