WESTFIELDS start out on the long road to Wembley on Saturday when they host Nottingham side Gedling Miners Welfare in the FA Cup extra preliminary round (3pm).
The allpay.park side have only taken one point from their first two Midland Alliance fixtures but are looking to put that behind them and seal a place against either Stratford Town or Pershore Town in the next round.
Westfields chief executive Andy Morris said: “We know nothing about Gedling and they will know nothing about us but the FA Cup has got a certain bit of magic.
“Not only do we want to get in the next round but it’s the financial rewards that are so vital to a club like ourselves.”
Centre-half and reigning player-of-the-season Tom Sparey went off injured in Tuesday’s 3-2 defeat at Cradley Town but the Herefordshire club are hopeful he will be fit to start.
Ian Ford’s Pershore go into their match at Stratford on the back of a 1-0 win against Bartley Green in the Midland Combination Premier Division, in which Alex Taffe scored.
Other fixtures: FA Cup extra preliminary round: Pegasus Juniors v Glossop North End; Wellington v Mickleover Sports (all 3pm).
Midland Combination Division One: Archdales 73 v Newhall United; Droitwich Spa v Dosthill Colts (both 3pm).
Reserve Division: Barwell v Bromsgrove Rovers (3pm).
