ALL roads in the harness racing world will lead to Allensmore this weekend for the eagerly-awaited two-day Classic Cup fixture.
There will be top class action on both days, with the Classic Christy Dunne Memorial for three-year-olds, a top class Free For All and handicap heats and finals on the Saturday.
The Sunday card will include heats for the top 40 horses in the handicap, who will race for the £3,000 Miracle Mile Final.
The top grade heat will be a qualifier for the S4C ‘Crock of Gold’ qualifier, which has attracted the fastest horses in the UK, and the Sunday action will be televised.
It will be a poignant occasion for Allensmore owner-trainer-driver Richard Owens as it will be the final time that his mighty hero, Fearless JR, races on his ‘home’ track.
The evergreen 15-year-old broke the record for the most career wins under BHRC rules when he scorched to his 48th lifetime victory at Allensmore recently, his 15th at the track.
Owens and his awesome performer will both be bowing out at the Welsh Classic Festival, Tregaron, in a fortnight’s time.
Entrance to the track both days will be £7 per person, children under 14 are free and car parking is also free.
The Allensmore circuit can be found five miles south of Hereford on the A465 Abergavenny road.
