WESTFIELDS opened up their Aspire Midland Football Alli-ance campaign with 2-2 draw against Coleshill Town at allpay.park.
The hosts had to battle back to salvage a point in the 88th minute after twice going behind.
Paul Allam went close in the 15th minute when he found himself clean through with only the Coleshill keeper to beat but he fired his shot over.
Coleshill took the lead against the run of play five minutes later when Mark Hibbard was caught in possession allowing Danny Carter to beat Bryn Watkins with a 20-yard drive.
However, Westfields were level as Hibbard put over a pin point cross which was handled by Richard Kavanagh and Hibbard fired home from the penalty spot.
Westfields should have taken the lead before the interval when Mark Davis was put through. He hit the crossbar with the rebound falling to Tom Harding but he blazed over from six yards.
Coleshill caught Westfields on the counter attack in the second-half as Violante put Coleshill into the lead. With two minutes remaining Allam got free on the right and he picked out Davis to touch the ball home.
Tonight, Westfields travel to Cradley Town (7.45pm) in the league before hosting Gelding in the extra preliminary round of the FA Cup (3pm) on Satur-day.
n Archdales 73 kicked off the season with a 3-2 victory over Stockingford with goals from Scott Finningan, Harding-Hall and Willits.
