WORCESTER CITY have enjoyed a fantastic month in The Pitching In Northern Premier League Midlands.

The side have triumphed in six of their seven fixtures played - scoring 10 goals across those games, and conceding only four.

The Faithful also kept five clean sheets in that time.

The month sees the side in prime play off position. Third in the league, on 39 points from 20 games, as well as having the second-highest goal tally in the table.

Coleshill Town (H) Saturday, November 2

The month started with a home fixture against Coleshill Town. City went into the game full of confidence, coming off the back of a 6-1 away win over Rugby Town at the end of the month prior.

City took the lead early into the game, thanks to Charlie Wise. They then maintained that lead - thanks to a strong defensive performance - through to the 74th minute, when Coleshill drew level.

The game seemed destined to end in a 1-1 deadlock, until Kyle Belmonte scored the winner in stoppage time - meeting a cross, and heading it into the back of the net.

Following City's 2-1 victory, manager Chis Cornes said: "It was probably tighter than it should have been.

"For the neutrals it was a good game. If you are going to choose how you win a game, and you are definitely going to win it, it would be a last minute winner. But we are happy that we put another three points on the board."

Wellingborough Town (A) Tuesday, November 5

A late mid-week game presented a tough test for City, who were forced to battle for the three points.

A tense deadlock, where neither side were able to break through for the majority of the game. Ultimately Dylan Hart was the difference maker, bagging the winner with ten minutes to play.

City dug in defensively, and some goalkeeping heroics from Haydn Whitcombe saw them take the three points home.

"To travel two and a half hours on a Tuesday night when you’ve been at work all day, it’s a testament to the boys and what they’ve got," said Cornes after the game. "What they’ve got in abundance is they’ve got bottle, they’ve got desire and they’ve got heart."

Coventry Sphinx (A) Saturday, November 9

City continued their dominant run to win on the road again, this time up against Coventry Sphinx.

A goalless first half, where City looked the better side was followed by a goal a piece from Taylor Townsend and Elliott Hartley in the second half, to propel the side to a 2-0 victory.

"We had to grind, but two pieces of individual quality win the game," said captain Adam Mace. "A fantastic result, great performance, and a win."

Redditch United (A) Monday, November 11

A Worcestershire Senior County Cup tie followed, against a Redditch side in a higher division.

City continued their trend of defensive strength, twinned with a decisive moment of brilliance, to win 1-0

A back-and-forth game where neither side were able to go ahead, made penalties feel like an inevitability.

That was until Zac Guinan scored the winner in the final minutes of the game, to send City through to the semi finals of the competition.

"Hell of a performance," said Cornes after the game. "Three clean sheets on the trot now, we are building a good foundation to go off of and we have just got to keep working hard."

Boldmere St Michaels (H) Saturday, November 16

Potentially City's toughest test of the month. A vastly depleted squad - including players taking up unnatural positions, and youth prospects on the bench - saw City hold strong and maintain their winning form.

City dominated in the first half, with Cameron Monteith putting the side ahead early on.

The Faithful were then forced to dig in deep and battle to see out the victory, ultimately winning the bout 1-0.

Following the game, coach Ryan Rowe praised the teams hard-working performance, calling the result, "the best three points of the season."

Bedworth United (A) Saturday, November 23

City's only loss of the month. An away trip - that saw both sides playing on despite the effects of Storm Bert - was fairly even in the first half, with the potential for the game to go either way at 0-0.

A controversial call from the referee early into the second half, where City felt they should have gained a penalty, was followed by three goals in from the home side - with City ultimately losing 3-0.

"We have been on a good run, and we can’t grumble with the month that we have had. Its been an absolutely fantastic month," said Cornes after the game. "Maybe we used all or luck up last week."

AFC Rushden and Diamonds (H) Saturday, November 30

To finish off the month, City returned home. A wholly dominant performance saw a return to winning ways and capped off the outstanding run across the month.

It took just six minutes for City to take the lead through Prince Henry, with a second following before the half as Felix Miles bagged from the spot.

City held off any hopes of a Rushden comeback in the second half with a strong defensive performance, before Liam Lockett sealed the win for a 3-0 victory.

"Much better, polar opposites from last week's performance," said Adam Mace after the game. "I thought we defended the goal really well today – a lot better than last week."

City will hope their top performances over the month carry through into December, as they face up with first-placed Quorn this Saturday (December 7).
