Droitwich Spa overcame the elements to comfortably beat Tytherington Rocks 3-0 away from home.

As Storm Bert caused the postponement of all but three games in the Uhlsport Hellenic League Division 1, the Saltmen extended their lead at the top of the table to nine points and maintained their unbeaten league run, which now stretches to 15 games.

Droitwich dominated proceedings from the outset, with James Lemon almost opening the scoring in the fifth minute, only for his low drive to go just wide.

The breakthrough came three minutes later when Alex Dugmore's determined play set up Perry Moss to slot home.

Lemon had a chance to double the lead moments after, but his effort narrowly missed the target.

The Rocks created their first opportunity on the quarter-hour mark, but Max Ferretti's shot was saved by Droitwich shot-stopper Matt Rogerson.

Droitwich resumed control, but the tough conditions began to affect play.

Rocks had a spell of possession and came close to equalising through Liam Pullen, but his long-range effort went just wide.

Charlie Tilley responded for Droitwich with a curling shot that looked destined for the bottom corner, but it too missed the target.

The hosts started the second half strongly and should have equalised through Matt Hoare, but his effort sailed over the bar.

The Saltmen capitalised on the let-off and added a second goal in the 52nd minute, with Tilley finding the net after Dugmore's flicked header and some sloppy defending.

Andy Crowther made changes, bringing on Cory Rudd for his first appearance in three games.

Rudd made an immediate impact, scoring with a powerful drive from 20 yards after being on the pitch for less than two minutes.

Rocks almost replied instantly, but Rogerson made a fine save.

The only talking points in the final quarter were a first-team debut for Harry Griffiths and Rocks substitute Lewis Bezer receiving a straight red card for a needless stamp on Nathan Binner.

The Saltmen next face Stonehouse Town at home on Saturday (November 30) at 3pm, a tough test against a side who have lost just twice this season.
