WORCESTER CITY fell victim to a strong Bedworth United performance, as they conceded three in the second half to lose on the road.
An even first half saw the sides go in level, but Bedworth came out hard for the second period and were able to capitalise.
Worcester started the game strongly, but were forced to make an alteration just ten minutes in. Charlie Wise went down twice early on and was forced to come off, with Elliott Keightley replacing him. Perhaps the nature of last weeks backs-to-the-wall game ultimately took its toll on the defender.
It was a back-and-forth game in the first half, however Worcester got the larger share of the chances. Elliott Hartley cut into the box from a corner and beat two men before looking to curl it around the keeper. Bedworth's keeper was forced to produce a magnificent reflex save to keep the scores level.
Not long after, Lockett tried one from distance. It was deflected off a Bedworth boot but still looked a danger to the home sides' net - it flew just wide of the top corner.
Bedworth would respond with scoring chances of their own in the latter stages of the half. A shot on the half-volley from their midfielder saw Whitcombe hold the strike easily.
In stoppage time, Bedworth sent in a fantastic strike that curled towards the top right corner. Whitcombe produced a fantastic fingertip stop of his own, matching Bedworth's earlier save and keeping the scores even going into half time.
An end-to-end start to the second half saw Bedworth take the lead early on. The ball was struck from the edge of the box and sailed past Whitcombe, nestling into the top left corner of City's goal.
Bedworth were throwing everything at City early on in the second half. Their striker found his way through one-on-one amid calls for offside from both City players, and fans of The Faithful. The striker fumbled the chance, putting the ball wide of the post under pressure from Whitcombe.
It didn't take long for Bedworth to come again. A deep free-kick saw the ball played wide. Their winger squared the ball across the box with his first touch, before it was turned in to Whitcombe's far corner.
The home side would go on to grab their third in the 74th minute of the game. A corner was whipped in, meeting a Bedworth head, and ending up in the bottom corner of Whitcombe's goal.
The loss sees City's fantastic winning streak over the month come to an end. However they can still take confidence from maintaining their playoff position in the table.
City will next be in action next Saturday (November 30), at Claines Lane - they will face off against AFC Rushden and Diamonds.
