THE LADIES from Gaudet Luce golf club have raised £2500 for Worcestershire Breast Unit Haven with a recent Charity Open Golf Competition.
The annual event saw 120 ladies take part in 60 pairings to raise money for the Haven.
"Breast cancer is very close to ladies' hearts," said Sherri James, head organiser of the event. " Everybody knows somebody who has been struck down at some time.
"Rather than it just going to a general cancer charity, we thought it would be such a benefit to our local Worcestershire haven."
Sherri and her team of 'pink ladies' started planning for the even last January and invited golfers from other clubs to come and play at Gaudet for the event.
"Lady golfers love to go to another course, a different course to their own to play in these opens," said Sherri. "It was also a pairs competition, so it is very forgiving because you have got a partner you are playing with!"
The day was ultimately a fantastic outing, which saw many moving parts come together. Gaudet-Luce golf club allowed the group to use the course at no cost for the day, meaning all the money could go to the charity.
"It was an absolutely super day," said Sherri. "The weather was good, the weather was kind. It was such a friendly day.
"We all wore pink as much as we can and the greenkeepers even put pink flags in for us, pink flag sticks, to make it special – it was really good."
