RGS WORCESTER'S swimming academy team secured fifth place in the country at the English Schools’ Swimming Association (ESSA) Secondary School Team Championships Finals.
The competition was held at the Sandwell Aquatics Centre, the venue used for the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games.
The girls' intermediate team (year 10), competed in the National Finals in the medley relay - achieving fifth place. The result showcased the team as some of the best young swimmers in the country, reflecting the effort they and the swimming academy have put in to get to this point.

Alongside this result, the team also reached the finals in the freestyle relay - finishing tenth in that category as well.
The latest achievement is the next in a series of consistently strong national performances produced by the program, which aims to offer specialist swimming training by coaches Jon Fletcher and Mark Hill, alongside the club training already received by the swimmers.
Headmaster, Mr John Pitt, praised the team’s achievement, stating: "To place fifth in the country is a fantastic result and demonstrates the swimmers’ dedication and resilience. Competing at such a high level in a venue like Sandwell Aquatics Centre is an incredible experience, and we are immensely proud of their efforts.”
