WORCESTER CITY coach Ryan Rowe, has called the sides' win over Boldmere St Michaels 'the best three points of the season'.
The game saw a dominant City side go up early in the first half, before holding strong against waves of attack as the momentum shifted in the second.
City were forced to go into the game with a depleted side, but still came out strong. They were missing Kyle Belmonte and manager Chris Cornes through suspension, as well as being forced to play without captain Adam Mace amongst others. Felix Miles also struggled to play through illness, and had to come off in the second half.
"Look we had a couple of suspensions today, a couple away on holiday, a couple injuries, the squad was quite depleted," said Rowe. "We just had to go and do a job today and gladly, as hard as it was, we got there in the end."
The missing players forced City to adapt, bringing players in to the starting line-up, and moving players around on the pitch. Most notably - Elliott Hartley, a winger by trade, stepped in at left back.
"It is a testament to the lads that have come in. Cam [Monteith] has come in, he has been out on loan, not really played much football. He has come in, got a goal, worked his socks off in there," said Rowe. "Elliott Hartley has come and played left back, he has never really played left back but I thought he was probably one of our best players if not man of the match for me today.
"Felix Miles was very ill, if we had a full squad Felix probably wouldn’t have played today but he got dosed up on some paracetamol and got through 55 minutes of the game before he ran out of steam."
With Boldmere knocking on the door for much of the second half, City showcased great resilience to hold on and pick up another three points.
Rowe said: "All of the back five were immense. It was backs against the wall a lot of that second half to be honest. Credit to the lads, it was probably our best three points of the season. We can go on and turn it on against teams but to come out and fight like that second half, and put our bodies on the line, and win like that means more than probably the last five or six results that we have got."
The win spells six on the bounce for City, who have won every game they have played so far this month. They have only conceded a single goal in that time.
"Our aim at the start of November was to go and win every game in November and put ourselves in that playoff spot before December, and cement ourselves in it," said Rowe. "It looks like we are doing that so far, but we have just got to keep going, don’t get too ahead of ourselves and hopefully we can still be there come the end of Christmas and see where it takes us in the new year."
