WORCESTER CITY secured another hard-fought three points in a 1-0 victory over Boldmere St Michaels.
It was a game of two halves, which saw City get the job done in both. The first half saw a Worcester side with momentum on their side. Taylor Townsend ran riot down the right wing, and the defence was wholly dominant in the air. The second half saw the momentum shift Boldmere's way, but a stalwart City defence held on to the clean sheet and claimed another win.
Early on, Boldmere worried the home side. Their forward picked up on a loose ball before hitting a shot at Haydn Whitcombe, however the shot ran just wide of the post.
City were quick to respond. Taylor Townsend played Liam Lockett through, who beat his man, cut into the box and forced a strong save from the keeper.
It was a nervy start to the game, but it didn't take long for City to assert themselves. A drive down the right wing saw the ball cut back to Cameron Monteith, who struck it on the volley to give The Faithful the lead.
The remainder of the first half saw a dominant performance from City, as Boldmere found themselves often camped in their own half. There was a nervy period for the Worcester defence in the last few minutes however, as Wise was pushed when going for a header. Boldmere were able to break through amid calls for a foul from fans and players alike. Their shot saw Whitcombe produce a fantastic save, with the following rebound hitting the post to allow City to go into half time with their clean sheet intact.
Boldmere came out revitalised and the momentum did shift in the second half.
Boldmere pressed hard in the first ten minutes. A string of top saves from Whitcombe, and a goal-line clearance from Hayden Reeves ensured City maintained their lead.
Boldmere controlled possession for the next period, but City's defence remained strong and did not allow them through. What ensued was a series of shots from distance from the Boldmere players, which were largely no trouble to Whitcombe.
Boldmere did trouble Worcester late in the second half, with The Faithful requiring a Reeves clearance on the line to stay in the lead. Reeves' clearance was matched soon after as Hartley cleared on the line from a corner. The pressure was clearly on for Worcester but the defence battled hard to maintain the lead.
Worcester ultimately claimed their sixth win in a row in the game, alongside their fourth clean sheet in a row.
Next Saturday (November 23), City are back on the road playing against Bedworth United.
