KING'S HAWFORD put on a dominant display at The Downs under-11 hockey tournament, to win the trophy for the first time in 6 years.

The team remained undefeated at the tournament, scoring 20 goals across six games, and not conceding a single goal.

The toughest match of the girls' campaign was their first, as they drew 0-0 with Hereford Cathedral in a tense affair. Despite attacking sequences from both sides, neither was able to break the deadlock.

However, the team only improved from there on out. They showed they were a level above their competition in the next game - running out 4-0 winners against the host team, The Downs Malvern.

The teams' form was compounded from then on. A 3-0 victory over St Albans followed, with a 4-0 victory over Moor Park coming soon after.

In their last two games, the side won 5-0 against Winterfold House, before triumphing 4-0 over The Elms in their final fixture of the competition.

Their strong results inevitably led to the side raising the trophy, marking the first time the school have triumphed in the tournament since 2017.

In the coaches' match report, they said: "The team’s flawless performance was highlighted by their exceptional defensive play—they didn’t concede a single goal throughout the tournament.

"The players maintained excellent positional play and executed strong tackles, consistently sweeping up any opposition threats.

"With their impressive record of wins and unbreakable defence, King’s Hawford earned a well-deserved victory and brought the trophy back home after a six-year wait. It was a superb afternoon of hockey, and Kings Hawford’s success at the tournament speaks volumes about the skill, determination, and teamwork of this remarkable squad."

The team consisted of Captain, Marnie P, Goalkeeper, Mary W, Millie B, Pip K, Pippa P, Thea E, Olivia G, Elizabeth N and Iza M.P.
