WORCESTER CITY FC will play Boldmere St Michaels this Saturday (November 16) in the Pitching In Northern Premier League Midlands.

In their fixture last weekend, City gave a strong showing, claiming a 2-0 victory over Coventry Sphinx, thanks to second half goals from Taylor Townsend and Elliott Hartley.

Speaking after the win, captain Adam Mace said: "I think winning is infectious, and thankfully we are on a great run.

"It’s been a fantastic couple of weeks after a not so fantastic couple of weeks. We’ve seen how quickly it can change but the reaction has been fantastic, everybody has bought in and we roll on now to next Saturday."

Since the game, Worcester have played once more, winning 1-0 in the County Cup.

The game saw City beat a Redditch side playing at a level above them. Despite dropping down to 10 men, a last-minute goal from Zac Guinan sealed the victory and sent Worcester through to the semi-finals.

"A hell of a performance," said manager, Chris Cornes. "Our character, our dedication and that grit that we’ve had. I thought we were brilliant in the first half, I thought we outplayed them and then obviously we’ve gone down to ten men in the second half and we have probably played 20-odd minutes with 10, and I thought again we were the better team.

"They’re a level above so it shows how far we have come from last season to this season. We had a bit of a rut and then we’ve come out the other side of it. Were on a bit of a crest of a wave at the minute, we just need to keep it going."

The cup win marked a fifth victory on the bounce for a City side in dazzling form. It also meant the side have played 286 minutes of football (not including stoppage time), since they last conceded a goal.

With their last three games in all competitions being on the road, City can look forward to a return to Claines Lane for their game against Boldmere.

Boldmere enter the tie in mixed form - winning two of their last five league fixtures.

Most recently they saw out a 1-0 victory over a strong Sporting Khalsa side, thanks to a goal from Liam Murphy in the last 10 minutes.

Worcester will be forced to deal with the knock-on affects of Kyle Belmonte's accumulated yellow cards, which will cause him to miss out. However, with their cup game showcasing their strength in depth, they look set to still give a solid account.

The game kicks off this Saturday (November 16), at 3pm.
