WORCESTER CITY WOMEN'S FC is preparing for an away tie against Lincoln City in the Women's National League Division One Midlands.

Last time out City lost 5-2 to Barnsley Women at Sixways Stadium.

In a tough fixture against a well-drilled Barnsley side, Worcester went into half time 3-0 down, before falling 4-0 behind early in the second half.

The resilient attitude in the side was clear to see as they battled back, against the tide, to bring the game to 4-2 - courtesy of an Annie Highway double.

Both of Highway's goals were outstanding strikes, her first was a well hit shot from outside the box, while the second saw her score directly from a free kick.

Speaking after the game, manager, Matt Jones said: "Highway in particular today, she knows where the back of the net is, clearly found it and she is a playmaker at the best of times. A performance for her individually to be proud of, so really pleased with her."

Barnsley ultimately put dreams of a comeback victory to bed, scoring a fifth as the game closed out. Jones, however remained upbeat after the game, saying: "The glass is always half full. We entered into this with our eyes and ears open. It’s the first season in the club’s history at tier four, we were under no illusions about how difficult it would be. If it was easy it would be boring, we embrace the challenge.

"Next week we look forward to travelling to Lincoln, which we will do with the upmost confidence."

Lincoln provides an exciting opportunity for City to grab three points on the road and move out of the drop zone.

Lincoln have lost all of their ten games so far this season, having scored only three goals. Most recently, they fell victim to a 4-0 Notts County drubbing.

Worcester travel to Lincoln for a 2pm kick off this Sunday (November 17).
