DROITWICH SPA FC captain, James Lemon, made his 300th appearance for the club as his side triumphed 3-1 over Ashby Ivanhoe.

During that time, the forward has also bagged 229 goals for the side.

Lemon signed for the club from Worcester City in the 2014/15 season, making his debut on the December 20, 2014.

He has been a prolific scorer throughout his time at the club since, however, his highest scoring period came in his second season, where he netted 44 goals in 37 appearances.

Notably, Lemon is in the history books at Worcester City, being their youngest ever FA Cup scorer, having scored against Coventry Sphinx on his 18th birthday.

Speaking on Lemon's outstanding achievement, manager Andy Crowther, said: "I think with Lem as a whole, and his character, he is a leader from the front. He leads with his work rate. On the pitch obviously his work rate is superb and off the pitch he is great to have round in the changing room.

"With the goals he has had over the last few years he has been superb and the stats show that. It is not just his goals though, his work rate has been unbelievable, on and off the ball, he creates a lot of goals for his team mates. As well as his 229 goals in 300 appearances, his assists have got to be up there as well because his work rate is second to none.

"A lot of the lads look up to him, a lot of the younger lads. For the ten years he has been at Droitwich, he has been superb."

Lemon has suffered with a long-term injury, with the Ashby Ivanhoe game seeing him return to full fitness. His return spells more good news for a high-flying Droitwich side that are yet to lose a league game all season.

"This season he has been in and out, he has had a long term injury and he's only just started to come back now," said Crowther. "We've been going on this run without him. With him coming back and getting to full fitness, he is coming into a very strong squad already, it just improves us even more. As I said a lot of the young lads look up to him. Lem can change games within minutes, within seconds. He spurs everyone else on as well.

"Getting him back to full fitness is going to help us massively."
