A CRY of "good shot" is often heard on cricket grounds during the summer - but the same cannot be said during winter.
That was until Martley Cricket Club adopted two air rifle teams to use its grounds during the cold weather.
The teams used to shoot at a Martley pub that has temporarily closed.
It has led the teams to move homes and pitch their shooting club at the grounds on the B4197 every Thursday night.
One of the teams comprises just women, leading the club to speculate that it could be one of the few to house a women's shooting team.
Wendy Davies, club secretary, said: "We are really happy with our new home venue.
"We have been made very welcome and hope it will encourage more people to come along and try our sport in a village community".
The team shoots in the 100-year-old Lord Ednam League .177 airguns to shoot at a metal target.
Martley Cricket Club Club president, Dave Bradley, said: “It’s great to have the teams in the heart of the village.
"My dad shot in the league for over 50 years for the Martley side, so we are more than happy to get the teams involved at the new pavilion.
"Eight other teams are involved in the league, and ironically the first match at the club saw the women’s team at home to the men.
"We have been asked not to publish the result," she joked.
