Worcester's Caitlyn Wise will compete in the semi-finals of the U19 World Boxing Championships later today (Wednesday)
Wise, is representing England in the women's U54kg category of the competition, which is taking place in the Pueblo Convention Centre in Colorado.
The competition features 180 different boxers from 30 different National Federations and five different continents.
There are 20 different weight divisions on show in the competition, with the men's categories ranging from Flyweight to Super Heavyweight, and the women's categories ranging from Light Flyweight to Heavyweight. Wise is representing England Boxing in the Women's Bantamweight category.
Wise triumphed in the quarter final of the competition by beating the United States boxer, Violet Lopez. The boxer was able to utilise her superior height and reach in order to win the bout by unanimous decision.
Wise hails from Ronkswood, Worcester and works full time on ground maintenance alongside her boxing coach who trains her at Worcester City Boxing Club.
Success in the U19 World Boxing Championships would not be Wise's first major accolade as she already boasts a rich list of accomplishments in the sport.
She is a three time Midlands Champion, a three time National Champion, and a three time International Champion - having found success in competitions in Sweden, Ireland and Germany.
Wise was also named the Women's Winter Box Champion for 2023, alongside winning a junior European bronze medal and becoming the British Champion in the Tri Nations on June 9 of this year.
She has said that following this tournament, her next goal is to win a place in the British Boxing Squad, with a view to competing at the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles.
Wise will be facing Leticia Eleuterio De Brito in the next round of the competition, who defeated Japan's Shiori Yotsumoto in the quarter finals.
