Droitwich Spa are gearing up for their longest trip of the season.

The Saltmen are set to face Wantage Town away in the Uhlsport Hellenic League Division 1.

The match is set for Saturday, October 26, at 3pm, and involves a 160-mile round trip.

The two teams have met once already this season, with Droitwich securing a 4-1 victory at Kingy's back in August.

Despite being down to 10 men for over half the game due to James Lemon's red card, the Saltmen dominated the match.

However The Freds were credited as a well-organised defensive unit on the day despite the scoreline.

The Saltmen different game is expected this Saturday.

Wantage currently stands in 12th position with 13 points.

Their current form shows two wins in their last six games in all competitions, and they will be eager to secure a third consecutive league win on Saturday.

Their top scorer this season is Callum Crook, with six goals from six appearances in all competitions.

The Freds, who were playing at step four just two years ago, have been bolstered by several new signings over the last few weeks, most notably former FA Vase winner Michael Miller and experienced defender Jack Alexander.

The Saltmen are in great form, with just one defeat in all competitions, which was to step three side Bromsgrove Sporting in the County Cup.

The team has been buoyed by some excellent recent performances with Cup and Vase wins over Redditch Borough and Holbeach United just last week.

Saturday's game offers Andy Crowther's side a great opportunity to increase their lead at the top of the table, with a win putting them five points clear and at least 16 goals ahead at the top of the table.

Another opportunity is also approaching on Tuesday at 7.45pm, with a trip to play-off contenders FC Stratford.

There is a coach organised for players and supporters to Saturday's game departing at 11.30am from Droitwich Leisure Centre.

The cost of return travel is £15 for adults and £10 for under-16s and over-65s.

The ground address is Alfredian Park, Manor Road, Wantage, Oxfordshire.
